Department Summary
The Department of Educational Leadership offers a degree completion program of B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in Educational and Community Leadership for working adults who want advancement opportunities within their fields and need a B.A. degree to do so. Brief Description of Duties
The title of this position is Advisor Coordinator for the B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies, concentration in Educational and Community Leadership. The Advisor Coordinator oversees management of all aspects of program advising including individual and group advising sessions, establishing advising resources for community partners, degree program planning, attending program-level meetings, and teaching courses within one’s areas of expertise.
Candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through inclusive materials, teaching strategies and advisement.

For advising responsibilities, the advisor should have learning management system experience as well as PeopleSoft or similar student database portal.

All Faculty should be organizing their classes within theCanvas Learning Management System (LMS), the official LMS provided for the SJSU community. All classes at SJSU, whether online or not, must be anchored in the Canvas platform to ensure faculty-student connection in a common space as all students are directed to log in to Canvas for online access to their classes. You will have access to this system prior to the semester start date.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in relevant area.
Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
Ability to evaluate and motivate adult learners. Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work.
Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity credentialing procedures in California for k-12 teaching including special education credentials and child development permits

Conditional Appointment
Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees. This position is also contingent on final approval of the Interdisciplinary Studies concentration in Educational and Community Leadership by the CSU Chancellor’s office,

Salary Range- To commensurate with experience.
