ROLE SUMMARY

The External Partnership Medical Lead develops and executes local strategies to support key Pfizer priorities and serves as thought partner to cross-functional leaders and colleagues (public affairs, policy, access, commercial, etc.)
in managing external partnerships (inclusive of Medical Societies, Medical associations, Academia, Patient Organizations and Various Healthcare entities) and shaping both external and internal policy around engagement opportunities.
This role will develop strategies and plan for cross BU Medical partnerships towards creating a culture of innovation and scientific decision making.
In addition, the role identifies opportunities where medical scientific partnerships are needed.
The External Partnership Medical Lead will also lead the in-country external medical partnerships and Pfizer Scientific Institute strategies in coordination with the country medical lead.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Collaborate with Country Medical Director and Coordinating Committee in the definition and implementation of the strategy for local Pfizer Scientific Institute as applicable.
- Develop long term strategy for cross BU external stakeholder partnerships
- Functionally lead in country external partnerships and collaborate closely with Medical Leads, Country Medical Director and Country leadership/management for selection, activation, and cross-category synergies for health entities and academia.
- Understand needs and gaps, including data generation for medical partnerships, based on which develop a plan along with clear metrics
- Developing an overarching local medical strategy for external partnerships for the CAC region and aligning it with key TA and country priorities.
- Ensure alignment with Pfizer Regional&Local Patient Advocacy teams
- Provide insights and input on best practice patient-centricity and patient engagement knowledge across each region and therapeutic areas and monitor environment for emerging trends
- Act as the local RWE champion to build long term partnerships in order to enhance real world evidence generation and dissemination across the region.
- Collaborate in developing policy focused advocacy engagement and strategies

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

External Partnerships Lead reports to Country Medical Director, in alignment with Regional Medical External Partnership Lead and works in partnership with Medical Leads, Corporate Affairs, Category Leads and PHI.
REQUIRED SKILL SET

Technical
- Technically updated in local regulations
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken)
- Ability to prepare presentations and deliver public speeches
- Abilities in negotiation and effective communication among own team and related internal/external areas
- Excellent abilities in strategic and interpersonal influence
- Handle computer software, specifically Microsoft Office, internet and other basic electronic tools
- Knowledge of PhRMA Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing practices
- Advanced knowledge of Medical Affairs in Pharmaceutical Business

Education
- Medical Degree, from an accredited school
- Postgraduate studies (specialty, master, doctorate) is an advantage
- Advanced Degree in public health/public policy, preferred.
Experience
- At least 5 years of medical affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry in medical affairs.
- At least 3 years in a manager position in industry, academia or health care organization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and partnerships with external stakeholders and with cross functional colleagues in a complex matrix structure.
- Experience in managing multi-dimensional and long-term relationships with patients, community and provider organizations required.
