An internal and externally facing medical role that provides medical and clinical expertise in priority therapeutic/disease areas and builds AZ scientific leadership. Participates and contributes with medical and clinical expertise in design of LCM and Brand Strategy. Takes leadership in implementation of Medical Plan/ activities in alignment with Brand strategy. Ensures that the Medical Activities meet the needs of patients and customers. Engages Opinion Leaders in scientific exchange meetings and advisory board meetings. Defines and delivers training on Medical background of the product or various functions in an organization. May take responsibility as Nominated Signatory medical reviewer for activities and promotional materials. May take responsibility for mentorship of MSL/s in the country.

50% of the time Field-based position responsible for implementation of activities for establishment of scientific leadership of AstraZeneca. This includes development and enhancement of professional relationships with healthcare professionals, building deep scientific understanding of AstraZeneca compounds. Driving positive opinions for the scientific and clinical value of AZ compounds for patients’ needs. Deliver medical education and clinical support to medical professionals, training sales teams and involvement in development of brand strategy.

·Continuously acquire and update necessary scientific knowledge on therapeutic area and relevant compounds.
·Develop and implement the local medical plan to address unmet medical needs in priority disease areas and ensure alignment with the brand plan.
·Provide medical leadership on faculty and content development for medical programmes including national congresses, advisory boards, scientific exchange meetings, publications, CMEs to meet identified needs
·Provide local medical expertise to local area/regional brand teams

- Disseminate results of studies completed to medical community by translating their clinical values and incorporating into business strategies
- Engage Key External Experts (KEEs), Health Care Practitioners (HCPs) and other external stakeholders by proactively providing on-label scientific updates and information on AZ disease areas and marketed products as part of non-promotional scientific exchange
- 50% of time in field engaging HCPs and external stakeholders across territory and brands
- Proactively identify HCPs with high levels of scientific expertise in local treatment practice to collaborate on specific medico marketing activities
- Development and implementation of KOL engagement plan in collaboration with MSL manager/line manager and TA lead. Review with the MSL manager/line manager and MAM this plan every quarter, develop OL visit plan- this includes pre call visit/engagement plan with clear objective of the visit, key points discussion for the visit, data to be shared and discussed with the OL.
- Develop own scientific knowledge for discussion on all aspects of the data to be shared with OL in a scientific, objective and balanced way through 1:1 discussions. Prepare for such interactions with peer group discussions. Respond to unsolicited requests for information about unapproved AZ products or unapproved uses of approved products, presenting such information in an objective, scientifically balanced, substantiated manner. Develop database of Key opinion leaders and also provide recommendations for advisory board participation“to proactively provide scientific updates and information to KOLs and identify the relevance of the data to the scientific community
