Role Purpose
We are looking for a Junior Accounting Analyst to join Thomson Reuters Latin America General Accounting Operations (AO) located in San Jose (Heredia), Costa Rica. The AO is a key element of the company's strategy to leverage best practices, support future acquisitions and growth, and streamline processes and activities across the organization and the world to return value to our customers by becoming more effective and efficient. This position is responsible for performing accounting activities such as balance sheet account reconciliations and open item resolution for the Latin America region on a monthly basis and partners with other departments to leverage systems and resources.
Responsibilities
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
Open items follow-up and escalation with various departments.
Perform month-end close responsibilities with a complete understanding of the close process and the financial framework within an SAP environment to achieve complete, accurate and compliant financial statements.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partnering organizations by providing regular and frequent communications.
Assist in monthly financial reporting; prepare analysis of accounts as requested.
Assist in projects on process improvements as needed.
Document processes.
Technical / Professional Skills & Competencies
Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with less than 1-year professional accounting experience at multi-national companies in reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and month-end close activities
Knowledge of common accounting procedures.
Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills with a competence in presenting in a professional and influential manner.
Attention to fine detail and demonstrate high-level of accuracy.
Enterprise resource planning ERP software — for example, SAP, Oracle, BEx, BlackLine.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Advanced proficiency in English (candidates will be tested before setting up an interview).
Portuguese preferred but not required.
Certifications / Education
Currently pursuing bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, OR equivalent qualification OR significant development after specialized vocational training OR substantial professional development after High School Degree.
