RHI Magnesita is seeking a dynamic Kiln Technician in York, PA. This position will prep the platforms and stage our fire brick to be put through the kilns to be fired.As a Kiln Technician, you will be in full control of operating the kilns. From monitoring kiln trends, changing kiln temperatures, air flow adjustments, making pushes of green product, and troubleshooting kiln related issues to kiln car setup and rebuilds. A kiln technician will also setup our 26" saw and cut custom brick sizes. Employees must be self-motivated, work independently without direct supervision, and maintain composure under pressure while reporting all equipment and kiln problems. All tasks must be safely carried out while adhering to the JSA's.

$22.07/HR + $1.50 shift differential / $1.60 weekend differential

The Kiln Technician's tasks will include
Keeping Safety as a top Priority.
Printing production schedules, prioritizing and preparing daily kiln push information sheets.
Maintaining stacking patterns.
Scheduling Bickley set-ups, firing dates and communicate schedule to planning.
Operating all kilns and equipment, tractors and transfer cars.
Making changes to kilns to accommodate product changes and push rate changes.
Observing, recording and accurately reporting kiln temperatures and conditions, performing general kiln inspections and maintenance, recording gas and electric readings.
Ensuring proper numbers of bricks are placed on cars, and proper tie-ins are used according to setting pattern. Check height of all columns to ensure the maximum height is not exceeded.
Visually inspect all brick to insure they meet the scrap guideline. Report any defects to a quality control technician and/or team leader.
Working on ideas to reduce scrap and become more efficient.
Accurate completion of the kiln production reports.
Operating the propane system.
Working in mason area as required.
Operation of Savage and Clipper saws.
Palletizing and boxing of cut products.
Reporting equipment problems to maintenance and/or team leader. Completing maintenance service orders.
Will be required to efficiently and safely operate a Counterbalance sit down forklift as well as tractors and rail/transfer system equipment.
About you
Must be at least 18 years of age; attained a High School Diploma or GED
Experience working in a heavy industrial environment where the assigned duties were in a fast-paced work environment that will be inside and dirty working environments.
Use or training with sit down forklift and related safety training.
Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude including the ability to read and understand blueprints or similar schematics.
Strong verbal and written communication skills as we work in teams in this department.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Email, SAP and MII.
