As a Secure Performance Engineer, you will collaborate with Power and Performance (PnP) and Intel Security Research teams to develop our organization's Secure Performance Strategy and lead its execution, anchored in, and aligned with Intel's Security First initiatives. This role also entails providing technical support and guidance to the Secure Performance aspects of customer issue no-harm PnP validation efforts, such as, PnP Characterization and Volume Validation efforts for current and future customer releases.
Duties associated with this include:
? Technical innovation in Secure Performance PnP Space:
o Working with the Customer Issue resolution Technical Teams to understand PnP implications of security mitigations in uCode, OS, and potentially hardware.
o Design of experiments or DOE (spell out DOE) for Secure Performance related studies, including exploratory work.
o Develop PnP methodologies to identify, characterize and innovate around mitigating potential security vulnerability signatures correlating to PnP
? Ownership of PnP Quality for Secure Performance Mitigations
o Designing and reviewing characterization and volume validation test plans, the results of which will be used to evaluate readiness for public patch release.
o Work with other PnP engineers to understand, execute and track characterization and volume validation test plans with a level of detail sufficient to evaluate readiness for public patch release.
o Review benchmark data, provide guidance and approval for public patch release from PnP perspective, and design follow-up experiments, mitigations, or recommendations as needed.
This engineer will step immediately into an exciting world with these and other challenges/expectation:
? A rapid and self-starting ramp.
? Active involvement in:
o Validation of current mitigations. This includes managing work carried out by different teams across Intel.
o Technical discussions of upcoming mitigation efforts and planning for future validation.
o Response to customer issues, including DOE and replication of issues seen in the field.
o Program management forums.
? Support of ongoing efforts to normalize the effort's program management, including transition of ownership to a relatively new team in Costa Rica.
? Develop PnP technical skills in others.
? This may include travel, up to quarterly, to site that owns execution.

Additionally, this position requires strong project engineering skills, including the ability to clearly communicate task breakdowns, track progress against plan, communicate roadblocks and negotiate mitigation. The selected candidate will work well in an ambiguous environment, may need to assertively promote his or her job priorities, and will need to negotiate scope and technical risk to meet deadlines. This work includes aggressive and non-negotiable deadlines and handling highly sensitive, confidential information.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements
? BSc in software engineering, computer science, computing engineering or related fields.
? 3+ years of professional engineering experience.
? Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
? Demonstrable knowledge in Linux and Windows operating systems as an administrator.
Demonstrable knowledge in computer architecture.
? Experience in system performance measurements.
? Must have programming skills in at least one scripting language (i.e.: Bash, Powershell, Python)
? Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills.
? Ability to work across teams in various geographical locations.
? Strong team player.

Preferred qualifications
? Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, computing engineering or related fields.
? Knowledge and experience on performance analysis tools such as Emon and VTune.
? Demonstrable programming skills in high level programming languages.
? General knowledge about computer security and hardware security vulnerabilities.
? Basic understanding and experience with statistics.
? The ideal candidate would have familiarity with Intel's Security features and processes, as well as a strong passion for of hardware/software Security, with a strong interest in expanding their depth and breadth of security technologies.
