Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing Java software solutions – both Swing-based user interfaces as well as middle-tier business logic and data-access components. The candidate will be capable of proposing and documenting software design, analyzing requirements, and presenting implementation options through the use of design diagrams and wireframes. The candidate will be responsible for hands-on development and promoting best practices.
The candidate should understand the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), be capable of analyzing requirements, be detail-oriented, embrace development best practices, and communicate clearly and effectively with peers, project management, and supervisors. The candidate must have the ability and desire to evaluate technologies for their relevance to the problem domain, learn to work with the technologies, and instruct team members in using the technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate will help design and implement a system that uses sophisticated mathematical models to calculate liquidity scores for a variety of financial instruments. The candidate will review design decisions for extensibility, testability, and maintainability. He or she will be required to design and develop reliable components that support high availability and disaster recovery. The candidate will be required to develop user interfaces with rich features for internal applications, delivered using a thick client framework. He or she will be required to properly document work in accordance with the standards of the team.
Qualifications:
Job Specifications: Technical
• 7+ years of object-oriented design experience
• 5+ years of hands on development experience with core Java
• Strong server side development experience
• Proficiency in relational database use and Unix shell scripting
• Strong experience with design-for-testability and unit-tests
• Proficiency with software management tools (CVS or Subversion) and Java IDEs
• Understanding and dedication to software development “best practices”
