We are seeking a **Software Engineer I** to join our cloud API and backend service development team. This is a remote opportunity based out of Costa Rica.
**Job Summary**
In this role, you will work with a team of senior engineers across our enterprise cloud platform. You will assist in backend microservice based software development activities across Imprivata's product portfolio to provide best in class cloud-based user experience.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Work in agile software development lifecycle - mainly collaborate with senior developers and product owner to understand software requirements, participate in design reviews and implementation backend software services.
- Write clean code, participate in code reviews, and help debug and troubleshoot defects.
- Contribute to technical documentation for service-oriented cloud software.
- Willing to learn and grow. Learn emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to enhance skills and knowledge.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 1+ years of professional software industry experience (or educational success)
- Strong programming skills in Java and knowledge of Spring Framework
- Experienced or familiarity with cloud-based software tools - mainly - Git, IntelliJ IDE, IDL, gRPC, JSON, Protobuf, Kafka, Restful API development
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as (AWS, Azure etc.)
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (mainly Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of basic software development principles, algorithms, and data structures.
- Good problem-solving, analytical and communication skills and teamwork abilities
- Flexible to collaborate with teams in EST and GMT.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of SaaS architectures and cloud-native micro service development
- Knowledge of Restful Web Services
- Knowledge Azure AD and identity management
- Good to have one AWS Cloud certification.
