Statutory Reporting COE SpecialistAccountant Costa Rica Location Grade Level 5

The Specialist Accountant will assist with coordinating the statutory audits within their assigned countries and ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of audit deliverables. The Senior Accountant will maintain Local GAAP ledgers ensuring information is updated in a timely and accurate manner. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for identifying inefficiencies with a view to developing and implementing more robust processes within the group.

The Senior Accountant will act as a point of contact for all statutory reporting related technical queries for their assigned markets from within the statutory reporting group as well as from other stakeholders.

There are additional operational areas where the Senior Accountant could become involved. These include:

- Acquisitions
- Divestures
- Analytical review of data
- US GAAP reporting

The Senior Accountant would take responsibility for the above named tasks/transactions, with oversight/guidance from the Statutory reporting COE Lead. There are also a number of project responsibilities that may arise.

Job Description:

- Assist in coordinating external audits within assigned countries.
- Prepare Financial Statements in line with Local GAAP conventions
- Perform analytical review of the Trial Balance periodically
- Coordinate and facilitate Statutory Balance Sheet Review meetings as required
- Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders in the assigned countries, within the Global GFS teams, Market Finance, Controllers and KPMG
- Act as a point of contact for all statutory related technical queries for their assigned markets
- Contribute to team effort and assist colleagues as needed to balance workloads
- Work with the SAR COE GFS Dublin team to identify opportunities for Regional and Global continuous process improvement and innovative solutions so the Global team can operate in an efficient and cost effective manner.
- Participate in and coordinate projects that require creativity and analytical skills
- Local regulatory reporting
- Escalations to SAR COE GFS Dublin where required

Education, Skills and Experience Required

Education:

- University Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
- Qualified accountant.

Skills & Experience:

- Minimum of three years of related accounting experience required
- Ability to work independently, to work under pressure and to handle several projects at once
- Experience in preparation of statutory financial statements
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP, IFRS, Local GAAP) with experience in financial statement preparation
- Experience in dealing with external auditors and overseeing the audit process
- Oracle and/or SAP experience desirable
- Financial migration experience in a shared service environment is desirable.
- Proficiency in PC skills (inc. Word and Excel)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical thinking, and organisational skills
- Language skills are preferable though not essential.

Technical:

- Strong technical accounting skills i.e. good knowledge of accounting standards
- Strong analytical skills – completion of analytical reviews
- Experience in financial reporting in a similar shared service environment is also very beneficial for this position.
- Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley and internal controls is important for this position.
- Knowledge of US-GAAP and Statutory Accounting
- Knowledge of Acquisitions and divestures is beneficial though not essential for the position
