**Job Description**:3M Indirect Tax Manager, LATACYou will manage and coordinate indirect tax advisory, planning, compliance and audit activities across Latin America and Canada to optimize VAT cash flows and endure strong VAT governance and controls.Indirect Tax Counsel and PlanningReview and analyze third party and intercompany transactions and contracts, both international and domestic; evaluate VAT impact, advise management and provide solutions in order to optimize cash flows. Review, analyze and evaluate proposed and newly enacted VAT laws and regulations, and relevant case law; develop and lead or coordinate the implementation of solutions to ensure compliance, maximize benefits and minimize any detrimental impact of such changes. Facilitate the selection of external service providers to support projects as needed. Stay current with a complex and changing set of laws and regulations.Indirect Tax ComplianceProvide clear guidance and direction to the Costa Rica Global Service Center Tax Team Review internal processes with local finance/tax to ensure that VAT implications are properly addressed and measures are implemented _i.e.,_ VAT determination, accounting, reporting and payment). Ensure that appropriate records and documentation are maintained as required by local laws and regulations in order to secure the deductibility of input VAT, avoid audit penalties, support exemptions and refund claims.Indirect Tax AuditLead indirect tax audits in the designated countries of responsibility. Coordinate VAT audit strategy, appeals and litigation with Corporate Tax Team and other LATAC Area and Country Tax Managers. Conduct legal research and answer questions and challenges raised by Tax Authorities. Liaise with external tax counsel on VAT issues as needed. Review written responses and documents provided to Tax Authorities and/or Tax Courts. Discuss technical issues and negotiate settlements with Tax Authorities (if required). Estimate risks and needs for reserves (if required).**Qualifications**:Education- Degree in Finance/Accounting (BA or equivalent). Course content to include direct/ indirect tax.- Fluent in English.Technical knowledge and experience- A minimum of 8 years of experience in Indirect Tax, with a multinational company or a combination of Big 4 accounting firm/multinational company, with at least 4 years of experience in or exposure to complex VAT issues, involving cross border transactions in particular.- Good business and financial acumen.- Ability to analyze complex fact patterns and transactions, and identify tax issues, including direct tax issues which should be referred to other relevant tax functions.- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally on technical and complex matters.- Ability to lead projects and bring them to closure.Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life - both physically and financially.
