IntroductionAs a SRE Engineer, you will work in an agile, collaborative environment to build, deploy, configure and maintain systems for the IBM client business. In this role, you will lead the problem resolution process for our clients, from analysis and troubleshooting, to deploying workarounds or fixes. This role may require some attention after normal working hours in order to troubleshoot and resolve production issues experienced by clients. This role may also require shifting working hours as needed basis for follow-the-sun coverage.Your Role and ResponsibilitiesConduct day to day continuous administration of databases such as relational databases including DB2 on Linux-Unix-Windows, MS-SQL server Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. Create new Microsoft SQL Server instances and configure them, including AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering Create, change, and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plans Download and install SQL Server service packs and updates.Required Technical and Professional ExpertiseExperience with at least one major public cloud provider or large scale private/hybrid cloud using container orchestration.Experience with a modern configuration management framework (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, etc.)Utilize: DB2 database administration, DB2 utility framework, Java, DB2 high availability and disaster recovery, Automation, Kubernetes, Devops concepts and Cloud administration.Understanding of software development life cycle and delivery process.Ability to manage multiple projects, while ensuring that commitments and timetables are met.Ability to partner with internal stakeholders to design operational solutions.Goal oriented, forward thinker that can provide solutions for complex technical problems.Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, coaching, analysis, problem solving and short term and long-term planning."Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise- Production DB2 LUW experience strongly preferred.- Experience with change management workflows, JIRA, GitHub.- Experience with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS - Extensive knowledge of SQL and SQL server tools.- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL datastores (DB2 LUW, MSSQL, Oracle data services).Being an IBMer means you'll be able to learn and develop yourself and your career, you'll be encouraged to be courageous and experiment everyday, all whilst having continuous trust and support in an environment where everyone can thrive whatever their personal or professional background.Our IBMers are growth minded, always staying curious, open to feedback and learning new information and skills to constantly transform themselves and our company.
