About the role: Manages the planning, design, and construction of new, or existing, facilities in support of Company goals by utilizing available resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible while complying with time and budget constraints. The successful candidate will initially manage the construction of a greenfield BSC campus from concept design through to commissioning and qualification and go-live. Upon completion, the successful candidate will be a senior member of the sustaining Facilities Management team and will own future capital projects for the site, including Phase 2 of the initial project. Your Responsibilities Include: Oversees the planning, design, reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Responsible for planning plant, office and production equipment layouts for economy of operation and maximum utilization of facilities and equipment. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Develops criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. Assists in development and maintenance of short-term and long-term facilities space plan. May be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and planning preventative maintenance. Trains to BSC facilities project management procedures and ensures capital is management in accordance with all BSC financial processes. Manages the Value Engineering process to ensure project budgets are being met. Schedules and coordinates design toll gate reviews with BSC Global Real Estate and Facilities. Engages with global facilities (GREFAC & EHS) subject matter experts on matters such as Workplace design, capital projects management, C&Q, environment, health and safety. Provides monthly project read-outs to key project stakeholders, both at local and global levels. Participates in the Global Construction community of practice to share best practices and learn from the best practices of others. Ensure that BSC's Environment, Health and Safety departments are engaged throughout the project lifecycles. Ensure that all permits need for the project are approved prior start of construction. In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures. For those individuals that supervise others, the following statements are applicable: Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the BSC Quality Policy. Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System. Experience in the commissioning and qualification of the following systems is highly desirable: ISO8 Cleanrooms Compressed Dry Air Nitrogen and process gasses Purified Water Process Wastewater Treatment Plant Building Management System / Environmental Monitoring System Initially the successful candidate will be an individual contributor but will develop into having direct reports in the long-term sustaining operations role. Experience A seasoned, experienced professional with wide-ranging experience and expertise in Facilities project management. Applies comprehensive knowledge of a particular field to resolve complex issues in creative ways. Knowledge of other related disciplines, including civil engineering, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and controls. Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/relationships. Is recognized as an expert in the work group. Develops solutions to diverse business problems of high complexity which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Has specialized knowledge of various alternatives and their impact on the business. Challenges are frequently unique, and solutions may serve as precedent for future decisions. Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones. Works without appreciable direction. Works independently on highly specialized projects with long range objectives. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives of assignment. Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion. Develops departmental policies and procedures, new techniques and standards. Work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results. Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units. May lead specialized project teams which have a broad impact on the company utilizing cross-functional resources. Provides leadership to business units. Guides the successful completion of major programs and often functions in a project leadership role. Effects of decisions are long-lasting and influence the future course of the organization. Errors in judgement or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources. Serves as a consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, projects, or objectives. Uses diplomacy and tact to diffuse high tension situations, particularly with senior level internal and external contacts. Occasionally escalates the most serious issues to manager. Participates in the development of others by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance. What We're Looking For: Licentiate degree in Building Maintenance & Facilities Equipment Maintenance At least 10 years of experience in similar projects. Knowledge on Cleanrooms ISO8 or ISO7 PMP desirable background from either facilities project management on behalf of the owner.
