About the role:
This Material Engineer job is an entry:level position in the Engineering Services group. The key responsibilities are centered on managing component material information of the parts that are in our products. The group is functionally organized under Research and Development, and many of the product components managed will be on new products that are being internally developed.
The material data that will be managed is maintained in a global system used for all product components, and the scope of support will include new products from multiple divisions. The type of work will be task:based service to multiple projects at the same time, and will require interaction with cross:functional team members from R and D, Packaging, Labeling, Supplier Engineering, and Operations.
Yourresponsibilities include:
:Work independently to manage a varying inflow of planned and unplanned work
:Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
:Interact regularly with component suppliers or telephone
:Review and interpret information provided by suppliers for engineering accuracy and adherence to global material standard designations
:Use own technical expertise and other internal experts to assess if gaps in the material information provided can be filled through further discovery or analysis
:Work with little to no supervisory work direction to obtain or create complete and accurate material composition information on assigned components
:Utilize corporate software tools to query the global material database to search for information
:Consistently create and maintain highly accurate product data at all times. The material information created is used globally, so high quality work is of utmost importance.
:Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal team members about the status of assigned component assessments
:Willing to work under a 1 year contract as a consultant.
Basic Qualifications:
:4:year Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Material Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
:No previous work experience required, but internship experience a plus
:Strong computer proficiency required. Experience with databases and data management a plus.
:Excellent proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications:
:Educational or work experience with material standards or chemical composition a plus
:Academic or experiential knowledge of packaging and labeling materials a plus
:Knowledge of medical device industry or products a plus
:Previous experience in a regulated industry a plus
