Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, upgrading, testing, troubleshooting and recycling of UNIX/NT computer servers in a distributed computing environment. Monitors usage, load and performance of remote or locally sited servers. Executes production processes. Provides first level support for customer purchased services. Installs and tests operating systems, databases and/or supported enterprise applications. Troubleshoots for errors, performs recovery steps remotely or on site. Researches, recommends and/or implements system enhancements that will improve server/OS/application reliability, security and performance. May formulate, recommend and/or monitors policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. Trains personnel on system usage.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships and/or work experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computational Science or any related field OR equivalent experience.
Advanced English, written and spoken
3+ years of experience in any of the following areas:
- Linux/Windows system administration
- Scripting and automating administration tasks like Python, Bash, PowerShell
- Web application hosting and troubleshooting experience (ISS, Apache, Tomcat, Nginx)
- High Availability / Load Balancing / Redundancy
- Monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic)
- Technical troubleshooting skills for both system performance and network connectivity issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience with any of the following:
- Technical leadership roles, driving innovative solutions
- Container technologies: Docker / Kubernetes / Rancher
- Public and Hybrid clouds technologies, (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc)
- CI/CD methodologies, workflows, configuration management, and tools such as Jenkins groovy pipelines , Git/GitHub, TeamCity, Artifactory
- Transactional Databases MySQL, MS SQL, Postgres
